WORKSHOP 1 – EURIPIDES’ MEDEA
Following a very successful performance of Sophocles’ Antigone at Riverside Studios in 2010, Theatre Lab Company is hosting a series of workshops on the classics for actors, singers and all those interested in performing. The workshops are scheduled to take place over the next few months, and details of individual workshops will be advertised individually nearer the time. The themes of the workshops will be Euripides’ Medea, Goethe‘s Faust, Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Shakespeare’s King Henry The Fifth, and Dante’s Divine Comedy.
The first workshop will take place on the 17th and 18th of June 2010 (Thursday and Friday) 10am-3pm in our rehearsal studio in Acton and the theme is the ancient Greek Tragedy Medea by Euripides.
The workshop aims to explore the subjects of immigration, exile, social power, supernatural power and the incredible capacity of passionate love and jealousy. Participants should have a genuine interest in Greek tragedy, be familiar with the play by the time of the workshop, and be prepared to explore the wonderful, demanding and endless challenges of ancient Greek classics where the potentials in language, emotion and passion of the characters are infinite. The work will involve physical and vocal elements of performance and promises to be a unique experience. Anne Malone will facilitate the vocal and sound aspects of performance.

Join Anne in an evening of deep relaxation and sound meditation called Heart Song. Bathe in the exquisite resonance of Hang, Tibetan Bowls, Wind Chimes, allow the healing tones to wash over you, resting in joyful songs, gentle Mantras and purifying tones.
Heart Song, combining Sacred Sound is a simple yet profound way to connect with the core of our being and tune our body at a cellular level through the gentleness of its resonance.
Anne will create a soundscape, using pure vocal tones, the bodys natural tuning instrument. Moving with the mesmerizing sound of Annes Hang music and soothing voice, well release any stored tension in the body, and as our evening comes to an end, relax gently into the exquisiteness of bathing in the heart of sacred sound, The Sound Bath, using a variety of healing sounds including Tibetan Singing bowls, Hang and Rain Stick. Ending our evening by joining together in gentle final Mantra and toning. Everybody welcome!
The Hang drum is a mini-cathedral of healing sounds, each note resonates within this flying saucer shaped drum. bells, gongs, harps, singing bowls all join in this awesome symphony of healing sound, ever since Ann fell in love with the Hang drum she has been developing her unique style of playing which has been embraced by the Yoga community, a favourite with Shiva Rea & Danny Paradise and Claire Missingham.
Toning is the art of tuning the body on a cellular level using vocal tones, these vocal tones resonate with the bodys molecules, balancing and releasing blockages, leaving the body tingling with clarity and fluidity.
